Who We Are

Words of Life is owned and operated in the U.S. by native American English speaker Carla M. Reyes, who has been teaching English for over 10 years and holds an advanced degree in Teaching English as a Second Language.

Carla M. Reyes

Since 2009, I have worked with a wide variety of English users who have needs just like yours, such as business professionals, researchers, international undergraduate students at elite American schools, recently resettled refugees, travel-enthusiasts, and more! I’ve taught in intensive ESL programs at big state universities, and I've also designed and led an ESL curriculum in a private liberal arts environment.

I facilitate large-group, small-group, and individualized instruction. For me, it is an enjoyable and necessary challenge to adapt my English language instruction to each context and individual learner. I love to get to know my students, meet one-on-one with them, and set them on a pathway forward for truly important language skills that they can use with confidence and pride.

I hope that you will allow me to partner with you in communicating your message to others in English!

Our Mission

At Words of Life, our goal is to empower users of English to effectively reach their communication goals.

At Words of Life, we strive to use the best language learning research available to design content and methods that will maximize communicative outcomes for users of English.

There are many wonderful English language curricula which do an excellent job at teaching language foundations. However, real-life language usage is often more complicated, and traditional books and classrooms can only provide limited samples and practice opportunities, which don’t always address questions or fit users’ needs.

At Words of Life, we believe in responsive, task-focused pedagogy, which capitalizes on what English users already know and prioritizes their specific language goals.
